My Halloween Spooks

Thought I'd post a few pictures from tonight's festivities. We started off by taking the kids trick or treating and then ended up at a harvest party at my church. Thomas was Jason from Friday the 13th. Of course I'm not into horror movies and my son is only 11 so he has never seen this movie. And he had no clue who he was dressed as. This was a last minute costume that my hubby picked out for him. Up until about 3 days ago he wasn't even sure if he wanted to dress up and go out trick or treating. But I think that the want for candy got to him and he decided to join in for one more year.
Becca was suppose to be Hannah Montana this year. She picked out what she was going to be about 10 months ago. We had the entire costume already. She had bought it with Christmas money this past Christmas. But she had managed to get the wig all tangled up and it took me 2 hours to get it all brushed out. Only to have it frizz in the end and alot of the hair to come out. So we got up early this morning and went on a hunt for a new Hannah Montana wig....with no luck. So we saw this princess wig and thought that it looked close enough to a Snow White wig....WRONG. We got it home and took it out of the package and it just didn't look right. She looked like a mix between Snow White and a girl from the Victorian Era. So I was running around the house trying to figure out how to fix this problem...with no time to run back into town to find something else....and remembered the princess dress that she wore 2 years ago for halloween. I wasn't sure if it would still fit her, but it was big on her then so we stood a good chance that it would. And sure enough it fit!! So Becca ended up being a Victorian Princess this year. I told her she reminded me of Taylor Swift in her Love Story video. Which of course I then had to show both my 5 year old and my husband what I was talking about. So after making our rounds trick or treating we went to a Harvest Party that was being held at our church. Here are a couple pictures from the fun that was going on there. This first picture is of Becca doing the limbo contest. No matter how low they put that stick she was able to go under it by just ducking.

This is her trying to eat an apple while it is on a string without using her hands. Eventually she was able to bite the apple. But she got tired of this one quick. Especially when she tried to bite down on it and her loose tooth started hurting.
This is a picture of my son and nephew putting together a puzzle. Or at least trying to. This puzzle had all the same shaped pieces and they all looked the same with only a small difference to each one. It gave me a headache trying to put it together and I love putting puzzles together.

I have to say that they had a really good time tonight. And they were both sound asleep within 5 minutes of their heads hitting their pillows tonight. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Happy Halloween!

Saturday, October 31, 2009

Hi. Just a quick post to wish you all a safe and Happy Halloween. I'm off to take the kids trick or treating and then to a harvest party at my church. I'll be back later tonight to post some pictures of the kids in their costumes.

Lost Tooth

Friday, October 30, 2009

My 5 year old daughter, Becca, has been waiting for so long to loose her 1st tooth. This past Saturday it finally happened. I took this picture of her on Sunday morning. I don't think her smile could have gotten any bigger. She makes sure she tells everyone about it too. If she hasn't told you or can't remember telling you....you're gonna hear about her tooth. The tooth fairy left her 75 cents. Which she thought was a huge amount of money and wanted to go to the store to buy something right then. But I convinced her to put her money into her piggy bank and hold onto it for a little while longer.
I thought I'd also show you these two pictures of my hubby, Tracy and Becca. I took this picture last Thursday after school. They were watching cooking. It was either Rachel Ray or Paula Dean. Can't remember which one now.

Thankful Card

The challenge this week at Stampin Sisters In Christ was based on 1 Chronicles 16:34 " Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever." The challenge was to create a card that expresses your thankfulness for someone or something that they have done, or that encourages someone to be thankful.

The inside of my card says: " I would thank you from the bottom of my heart, but for you my heart has no bottom."

The sketch that I used was from this weeks Stamps and Smiles Sketch Challenge.

Blue Snowman

I just love snowmen. Can't you tell? There is just something about them. They are just so darn cute! Of course my stamp collection is still on the small side so this is a snowman stamp that I know you have seen a few times before on my Christmas cards. This time I colored him in a couple different shades of blue. It's amazing how you can make a stamp look different by using different colors or techniques when you create your card.

This card is for 3 challenges:

Non-Traditional Snowman Card

Here is another Christmas card that I made yesterday. I guess I really had my mojo going yesterday because I created a total of 4 Christmas cards. Of course it didn't hurt that my wonderful hubby told me to go work on some crafty stuff if I wanted and he would get the kids off the bus and make supper! Of course my husband loves to cook so that was no biggie for him. How lucky am I to have a husband that loves to cook!!! And of course I don't have to say that I jumped at the chance to work on some cards. But anyway...back to my card....

The image I used is from Inkadinkado. It is part of their Sketchbook Snow stamp set. I wanted to make a card with non-traditional Christmas colors. So I used teal, raspberry & white. Don't those colors look great together!

I am entering this card into 2 challenges:

Let It Snow

Here is a Christmas card that I made last night. I used a free digi image from Dustin Pike. Isn't that snowman cute! You can't tell by the picture that I took. But the snowman is actually raised up off the card a little with foam tabs. I wanted to give a little more dimension to my card and instead of cutting out the snowman and raising just him, I raised the entire square that the snowman is on.

Christmas Belle

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

I just love how this Christmas card turned out. I wasn't sure about using the brown and pink combination on a Christmas card. But once it was done I just fell in love with it. Here's my card, please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. The image is called "Christmas Belle" and it is a free digi download at Wendy's Digital Doodling.

This is for 5 challenges:

Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge #14 : The challenge this week was to create a card using Pink & Brown as the main colors. Add Ribbon and some glitter. I know that it is hard to see in the picture, but if you look very closely at the pink on her jacket and the snowflakes you will see that they sparkle. I added cotton candy stickles to give the sparkle it needed.

Winter Wonderland Week #22: The challenge this week was an OPEN THEME challenge.

Creative Card Crew Challenge #34: SNOWFLAKES

Simon Says Stamp ALL THAT SPARKLES: Create a card or project using anything that sparkles. Glitter, glimmer mist, gems, pearls, ribbon, stickles... the list is endless. As much sparkle as you can put into one creation.

Cup Cake Craft Week #63: Create a card using the provided sketch:

This Tots Got...... Contest

The Greeting Farm is hosting 3 contests for kids called "This Tots Got.....". The kids have until Sunday, November 1st at NOON CST to enter this contest. The projects must use TGF stamps. They are playing for a chance to win one of the new stamps from the Twinkle Tots line.

So when I told my 5 year old daughter, Rebecca, about this she was all for it. She couldn't wait to make a card. The only thing is I only own 1 TGF stamp so I told her this is the one she had to use. She could add anything she wanted to the card. She could color it any way she wanted. The rest was up to her.

Here's her entry for the "This Tots Got Color" contest:

Didn't she do great? She did this all by herself. Well, with the exception of one thing. I helped her with the cutting. We couldn't locate her scissors so she could do it on her own. And the scissors I have are just too sharp. I almost cut myself with them at least once a week. So I couldn't take the chance with her using them. But all the gluing and coloring and picking out the paper and ribbon and flowers was all Rebecca.

She was so cute. Because once she finished her card tonight she said "ok mama put it on the computer I need to win my stamp". Yep I've started her young....give her a few years girls and she will be right on here with the rest of us blogging and entering challenges. Of course I guess this does mean that if she doesn't win I'll have to get a TGF stamp to put in her Christmas stocking this year. Which of course mama will use quite a lot.

Birthday Girl

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

My daughter, Rebecca, will be turning 6 on November 17th. Why am I posting about her birthday now? Well, because I just finished her birthday card. What do you think? I just received this stamp as part of some candy that I had won. This is an Elizabeth Bell stamp, called Dolly. Isn't it just the cutest!?!

The color theme of her birthday this year is pink and brown. So when I saw that the challenge this week at Peachy Keen was to create a card using the colors brown and pink, adding in some ribbon and a touch of glitter I knew that this was the perfect excuse to sit down and make a birthday card for her. But as you can see in my card I forgot one very important part of the card.....GLITTER. I can't believe I forgot to add glitter to my card! I love glitter! I could go back and add the glitter in somewhere. But I'm really happy with the way my card turned out and I didn't want to take the chance that I would mess it up in the process of adding glitter onto it. So I won't be entering this card into the Peachy Keen challenge. I still have a few days left to enter that challenge. (As long as I remember my glitter next time!)

I am able to still enter this card into a challenge. I used the sketch from the 3 Clovers Thursday Challenge to help design my card. There are some really great cards posted by the DT over at 3 Clovers! Be sure to check them all out. Here is the sketch that they provided for the challenge this week: (Sketch #36)

A Christmas Card for 4 Challenges

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

I made this Christmas card for 4 challenges:

Creative Card Crew Challenge #34: Snowflakes

Our Creative Corner: Create a card or a project inspired by your favorite holiday book or movie.

Incy Wincy Designs Challenge #15: Use your favorite embellishments

Stamps and Smiles Sketch Challenge SASSC37 : Create a card using the provided sketch:

My all time favorite Christmas movie is White Christmas. I watch it several times during the holiday season. I based my card on this movie and used the red in their outfits at the end of the movie for my color scheme and my snowflakes are from the snow that they finally got at the end of the movie. This is one of the best Christmas movies ever made. If you haven't seen it I really recommend that you do. You won't be disapointed.

So here is the front of my finished card:
I added an extra "gift" to this card by leaving the top of the card open and adding a bookmark as a "hidden gift". So here is a picture of the card with the bookmark out of it. For my favorite embellishments I used gems. I just love using gems. They can take a simple card and dress it up so much

CLP-7 Challenge

I have discovered a new love....card challenges! Yep, that's right, card challenges. I am usually scrambling just weeks before Christmas trying to get all my Christmas cards done. And alot of times it is the same card over and over again. But since I have started participating in the challenges each week on several blogs I have gotten a lot of my Christmas cards done and not one of them is the same card!!

So here is my entry for this weeks Crafting Life's Pieces Challenge #7. This card was alot of fun to make. The sketches provided for the CLP challenges are some really imaginitive sketches and this one is my favorite CLP sketch so far. I'm sure I will use this sketch again in the near future.

Here's my card: (Supplies used to make card listed at bottom of post)

Here is the CLP sketch that was provided this week:

So how do the challenges at CLP work? Well, each week Chelsea gives a new sketch for a total of 4 sketches each month. You can play for 1 week or for all 4 weeks. It's entirely up to you. Monika's Blog Candy Giveaway

Monika is celebrating 10,000 visits to her blog with this yummy candy! Winner will be drawn November 1st!

Merry Christmas Snowman Card

On Wednesday, I spent the day at my parent's house, making cards with my mom and sister. Both stamps used were "borrowed". The snowman is a stamp that my sister has and the sentiment is a stamp that my mom has. Isn't it great to get with others and create cards/projects? When you do that you have the opportunity to use items you don't have. I love this snowman stamp and will be on the hunt to try to find one for myself.

I decided to use non-traditional Christmas colors. I love this color combination. Of course it doesn't hurt that these are my two favorite colors...sage & pink. I am very happy with the way this one turned out. Hope you all like it too. (See bottom of post for list of supplies used.)

So what challenge did I make this card for? Well, none other than the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge week #109. The challenge was to create a card/project using the provided sketch.

Kraftin' Kimmies Challenge # 2

The challenge this week at Kraftin Kimmies was to create a card/project using buttons. I knew that I had to enter into this challenge. When I was growing up my mom had a stash of buttons. And I mean a stash of buttons. She had a popcorn tin filled to the top with buttons that she had been given. (Plus she had 3 large glass pickle jars filled.) When I was little my younger sister and I would play with the buttons for hours. We would each start with a button and we had to see how many we could find of that same button. The person who found the most in 10 minutes won. (oh that brings back so many memories.)

So when this challenge was posted I went to my mom and asked for her can of buttons and started looking through them to find that one perfect button to fit into the theme of my card. I decided to keep my card simple. I added a button to the snowflake to give the snowflake a little more character. I also added glitter to inside of the button and to the snowflake to give them both a bit of sparkle.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a happy note. My internet is back up and running...finally! Turns out it had something to do with my phone number showing up as a business number. It took my husband 4 different calls to get them to understand that we are not a business but a residence. But I'm very happy to say that as of early this afternoon I have internet access back. Now I'm off to a Literacy Night at my daughters school. I'll be back on later to post some more cards that I've made over the past few days. (10 in all!!!)
