Criss Cross Card

I made this criss cross card for this week's challenge at Karen's Doodles. The image I used is called Pony Love. The colors I decided to use are citrus teal, mediterranean and brown. The pattern that I did on the front of my card is embossing using the perfectly paisley cricute embossing folder. For the band around my card I punched a heart border using a border punch from Martha Stewart Crafts and then added a light teal and brown stripped ribbon to the top of it and finished it off with a white paper rose. I then added 3 white pearls to the top of the card front and added stitching using a teal pen around the picture. I punched the sentiment out using a 1 3/8" circle punch and backed it in both the citrus teal and brown cardstock. Then added it to the top left corner of the card insert. I then punched a 2" scalloped circle out of mediterranean cardstock anad added it to the back side of the card insert allowing just the top to peak up over the sentiment. Then to finish off the insert I added some faux stitching using a teal pen and then added a strip of the light brown and teal ribbon to the bottom of the insert.

SMC Challenge ~ Embossing & Distressing

This week at Sew Many Challenges we are challenging everyone to create a project using embossing & distressing. If you need a great image to use check out the store at Sew Many Cards or visit our sponsor...

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stitchy Bear Stamps. Stitchy is offering 3 digital images of the winner's choice (Stitchy Stamps only)!

This is the card that I made for my nephew. We will be celebrating his 9th birthday tomorrow. The image that I used is one of the newest images that you can get at Sew Many Cards called Safe Travels. For the embossing on my card I used a herringbone cuttlebug embossing folder. It looks like tire tracks to me so I thought it would be perfect for this card. To create my distressed look I used a brown ink pad and a makeup sponge and inked around the edges of the green embossed cardstock square, around the edges of the tan background paper, around the edges of the image and on the sentiment. I then added black pearls to two corners.

The sponsor team at Sew Many Challenges, also got to work with an image of our choice from Stitchy Bear Stamps, and I chose to use the image, Sparkles. Thanks for taking the time to look at my cards.
