Dragonfly

Here is a spring birthday card I created using Elisabeth Bell's Dragonfly digital stamp and combined it with the sketch at Sugar Pea Designs and photo inspiration from Cupcake Inspirations.

From the inspiration photo I used the dragonflies, small flowers and I used the color pink (also added blue and green into the image).

SPDSS25

I started with a 4 1/4" x 6" card base. Onto the base I layered a piece of rose card stock onto a piece of brown card stock and then added a piece of brown dot distressed patterned paper.  I rounded the corners of each layer and the corners of the card base.  I colored the image using Spectrum Noir pens and cut it out using a nesting rectangle embossing die.  I added a thin line of pink around the edge using the CR3 Spectrum Noir pen and then backed it in brown card stock. I added two loops of pink and brown dot ribbon peaking out from under the image and 2 light pink paper flowers each with a pink pearl to the bottom corner. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the brown dot patterned paper.

Just Me!

Last night my son came out of his bedroom laughing.  He had been getting his stuff ready for school for today and part of getting ready he opens up his assignment book to the current week so all he has to do is grab it out of his back pack when he needs it.  What he was laughing at was it seems that his caseload manager (who he has had for study halls since his Freshman year... he is now a Junior) wrote on Thursday of this week that it was her birthday....it actually said "Mrs MacDonald's 25th birthday" with a great big smiley face after it.  He had no idea that she had done this or when she had done this. He just thought it was neat that she had taken the time to get a hold of his assignment book this year and write this with out him seeing. So he thought it would be fun to take her in a birthday card on Thursday and asked me to make one for him to give her.  We are pretty certain that it isn't her 25th birthday (of course we could be wrong) but to keep up with the chuckle we thought it would be fun to add "25" to the card. So this is the card I came up with for him to give to her.

I used the sketch from Stampavie & More and paired it with The Paper Shelter's Just Me digital stamp.

I started with a square white card base.  I added pink pearlescent chalk all around the edges.  I cut a piece of pink plaid patterned paper slightly smaller than the base and added pink pearlescent chalk to the edges.  I punched a strip of white card stock using a lace border punch, added a piece of pink dot patterned paper and a piece of pink ribbon lace and then added this to the bottom of the card.  I colored the image using Spectrum Noir pens. I decided to cut the image out in an oval instead of the rectangle in the sketch.  I added pink pearlescent chalk to edges before backing it in pink paper and white card stock. I cut around the image using scallop scissors and then added a little of the pink pearlescent chalk to the scalloped edge.  I punched a piece of white card stock using a real estate punch and then made it slightly smaller by cutting it in half using one side of the same punch.  I stamped the number 25 onto it and added pink pearlescent chalk to the edges.  I back that in pink paper.  I then stamped the sentiment "happy birthday" directly onto the edge of the image. To give the entire card a shiny look I lightly added white pearlescent chalk over all the open spaces.  I added 3 pink flowers at the bottom of the image and 2 more at the top.  I added a pink gem to the center of each flower and then 3 more to the empty corner.  I added a mini pink gem to the purse.

Kiersten The Knight

I created this birthday card using Kiersten The Knight from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and paired it with the optional April sketch from the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge blog.

I started with a black card base and added a layer of hot pink card stock and a layer of gray card stock. I then cut a piece of black card stock and embossed it using a dot embossing folder.  I colored the image using Spectrum Noir pens.  Instead of cutting the image into a circle I opted to cut it out in a rectangle and round the corners. I backed the image in hot pink card stock.  I added a strip of hot pink card stock and a strip of white card stock coming out from under the image and then stamped the sentiment "happy birthday" onto the piece of gray card stock. I added 3 black pearls at the top corner and 3 more black pearls at the opposite bottom corner. I also added 1 black pearl to the center of her shield.

Note Pad Holder

Hi everyone! Our church each year gives a gift to all the moms on Mother's Day and as the acting Sunday School Director it is my responsibility to pick out the gift to give.  Last year with the help of my mom and sister we created photo holders and the women liked them more than the store bought items we had given in the past. So this year we are thinking of creating a notepad holder for each mom.  I took inspiration from a recent tutorial on the Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge Blog. You can find the tutorial here. I followed the basics of the tutorial. However, I had to adjust the sizes since I purchased the wrong size note pads!!! But in the end it all worked out and here is my finished note pad holder featuring Kraftin' Kimmie's Bambi Bubble Gum image.

The paper I used (aqua dot, aqua diamond plaid and aqua) are all from The Paper Studio's basics paper pad and I paired them with a basic white card stock.  The punch I used is an eyelet lace border punch from Martha Stewart and paired it with a basic white ribbon. I stamped the image directly onto Spectrum Noir smooth card stock and colored it using Spectrum Noir pens.  I layered 3 flowers (1 white paper, 1 aqua fabric and 1 mini dark aqua fabric) and added a blue gem to the center. I also added 2 flowers and 6 more gems.

On the inside added the dot patterned paper to one side and the diamond plaid patterned paper to the other side. I added plain aqua down the inside of the spine and the dot patterned paper down the spine between the two pockets.  I added the plain aqua paper to the outside of each pocket.  I added a piece of white card stock punched using the eyelet lace border punch with a strip of the diamond plaid patterned paper across the top of the pocket and added the notepad to the opposite pocket.

I am entering this project into the following challenges:

For My Sister

I created this birthday card for my older sister who will be celebrating her birthday on Sunday.  I used the sketch from the current challenge at Sweet Sunday Sketch.

I started with a blue square card base and added a piece of pastel blue dot patterned paper.  I cut a piece of pastel blue plaid patterned paper, backed it in blue card stock and added it down the side of the card.  I cut another strip out of the blue card stock, punched the bottom using an eyelet lace border punch and added a white satin ribbon across the top. I added that piece to the bottom of the card.  I colored the House Mouse image She Loves Me using Spectrum Noir pens and backed it in blue card stock. I made a bow out of the same white ribbon and added it to the bottom corner of the image. I stamped the birthday sentiment directly onto the plaid card stock and then finished off by adding 3 blue bubbles to the card's upper corner.

Thanks!

I was asked to create a thank you card by the director of the food pantry that I volunteer at.  One of the local banks recently did a peanut butter and jelly food drive and gave part of what they collected to our food pantry.  So I created this card as a thank you from those who run and volunteer at the food pantry.

To create my card I used the week 1 sketch at Viva La Verve.

I started with a light purple card base and added a piece of white card stock that I embossed using a dot embossing folder.  Then I added a piece of lavender floral patterned paper.  Across the top I punched a piece of light purple card stock using an eyelet lace border punch and added it to a piece of the lavender floral patterned paper.  The sentiment is stamped onto a piece of white card stock that I punched out using a real estate border punch and then backed it in light purple card stock.  I layered a purple fabric mini flower to a white glitter fabric flower.  I added a pearl to the center of the flower and leaves and branches that I punched out of sage green and light purple card stock.  I also punched butterflies out of light purple card stock.  I added snowflake pearls and star dust stickles to the larger butterfly and star dust stickles to the smaller butterflies.

I layered a blue paper flower onto two white paper flowers and added a red glitter star button to the center. I also added a blue glitter star button and a silver glitter star button to the sentiment.  I added silver, Christmas red and stardust stickles to the image (barretts, belt, sandals and star on skirt).
