2 Sisters Challenge ~ Boys And Their Toys

This week's challenge at 2 Sisters is Boys And Their Toys.  The image I used is from Bugaboo Stamps and is called Astronaut 1.  The base of my card is black.  I cut a piece of blue card stock just a little smaller than the card. I stamped stars all over the blue card stock and then inked the edges using a black ink pad and grey chalk. I colored the image using crayola and prisma colored pencils. I inked the edges with black ink and grey chalk.  Then I backed the image on black card stock. I punched stars out of mustard yellow cardstock and added yellow shimmer chalk. (you can't really see it in the photo but the stars shimmer).
I finished the inside by stamping stars onto another piece of blue card stock.  I finished off each of the sentiments and the blank piece in the same way I did the image on the front.  I added two stars finished in the same way I finished the ones on the front of the card.

I typed up the sentiment on my computer.  The complete sentiment reads... "One small step for man.....one giant leap for the BIRTHDAY BOY!"

Pencil Box

This week at 2 Sisters the challenge theme is to create a school themed project. Our sponsor this week is Robyn's Fetish.  I created this pencil box using Reading Is Fun.

I used a premade blue plaid cardboard pencil box. I added a strip of light blue cardstock to the top. I then added a thin brown ribbon to the top and bottom of the top of the box. I colored the image using crayola and prisma colored pencils.  I punched around the image using a scalloped circle punch and then backed it in the light blue and then again in white. Then added it to the left side of the box top.  Using light green letter stickers I added the word pencils besided the image. I also used the letters and added the alphabet to go around the box. I found some cream colored buttons and added 2 to the top and 1 to the front. This is what it looks like on the front, top and back of the pencil box. The M & N and the Y & Z are on either end of the box.

Corner Bookmark

I am a little late with this week's Word Art Wednesday post. I've been having a little trouble with my internet and hopefully will make it all the way through posting this before it decides to go out again.  For my project this week I used Delight In The Lord and created this corner bookmark.  We recently made a bunch of these at a ladies tea we had at our church.  They are so simple and so much fun to make.  You can find the tutorial I used by going here.  We had so much fun making them that we made enough to pass out on Sunday morning to everyone in attendance.

I punched the bottom of the strip using an eyelet lace border punch from Martha Stewart Crafts and added garnet red ribbon to the top.  I stamped the birthday sentiment under the bow and added 3 garnet red pearls.  The image was stamped onto white card stock, cut out in an oval, backed in garnet red card stock and cut out using scalloped scissors.

2 Sisters Challenge ~ Sketch

It's challenge day at 2 Sisters. This week's challenge is a sketch challenge.  This is a sketch that I created especially for 2 Sisters Challenges.  Here is the sketch:

We are being sponsored by Patties Creations. Pattie gave the DT a couple images to play with this week.  The image I used is called Swan Love.

I have a tip this week about how to create a soft but colorful background to your image.  Stamp (or print) out two images of the same size. Cut one of them out completely and layer over the other image.  Then start adding chalk until you have the desired effect. This will keep the chalk from getting on your image you will be adding to your card. To get an even softer look try blending the chalk with your finger using small circles over the chalk. Then simply remove the cut out image.

For the image on my card I used a couple shades of blue and purple for the sky, a couple shade of green and blue for the water and pink, yellow and orange for the sun and reflection on the water.

Floral Birthday

I decided to step away from the "cutsie" birthday cards that I always make and made this more "grown up" birthday card.  The base of my card is a floral patterned paper from My Mind's Eye.  I added a strip of waterspout cardstock to the bottom. I added a garnet red ribbon and bow to the top of the piece of waterspout. I stamped the sentiment below the bow using a birthday sentiment stamp from Inkadinkado.  I added four garnet red pearls below the sentiment.  I stamped the flower image, from Inkadinkado, onto white cardstock and cut out in an oval.  I backed it in garnet red card stock and cut around it using scalloped scissors. I added the image right above the bow.

Let's Dance

I created this card for One Stitch At A Time's Pretty In Print contest.  The image I used is called Ballerina and is from Stitchy Bear Stamps
The base of my card is moonstone card stock backed in black card stock.  I cut the image out in an oval, backed it in black and cut around it using scalloped scissors.  I punched 2 large flowers out of rain card stock and 2 smaller flowers out of moonstone card stock using daisy punches. I layered 1 small flower on top of 1 large flower and added a black pearl to the center. I also punched leaves out of black card stock and waterspout card stock using a rockfern punch and a branch punch. I layered these on the right side of the image and added a black pearl in each corner of the card.

Strawberry Girl

I just love this image from Mo's Digital Pencil called Strawberry Girl.  I colored her using crayola and prisma colored pencils.  The base of my card is green and pink plaid cardstock.  I backed the image in pink and then again in white and added it to the left side. I cut a piece of pink cardstock and backed it in white. I punched the edge of the white using an eyelet lace border punch. I added a lime green ribbon and added it to the right side. I then layered a pink paper flower on top of a white paper flower with a lime green flatback pearl in the center.  I added one to the top of the ribbon and one to the bottom and added a lime green bow in the center.  I also added lime green flatback pearls to the left upper corner of the image.

In my garden is a....

....cute little girl holding a sunflower.  Well, at least on my card that is.  This adorable stamp is Swiss Pixie Birgitta from CC Designs.  I colored her using crayola and prisma colored pencils.  My card base is marine blue. I added a piece of yellow gingham patterned paper cut a little smaller than the base and backed in white.  I cut the image out in an oval and backed it in marine blue. I then cut it out again using scalloped scissors (or as my 7 year old calls them...crazy scissors).  I added them image to the left side. Then I cut a strip of white cardstock and punched one side using an eyelet lace border punch from Martha Stewart Crafts.  I added a brown polka dotted ribbon and then added it to the right side.  I backed the sentiment in marine blue and added it to the top right.  I also added a blue flatback pearl to the top right corner and one to the bottom right corner.  I added a sunflower button to the bottom of the ribbon.

Let's Shell-abrate

I created this birthday card using this adorable image and sentiment from Whimsie Doodles.  The image is called Pearl and the sentiment is Shellabrate. They are both part of the Shell-abration digi set.  The card base is marine blue. I cut around a piece of white cardstock using scalloped scissors so that it was just a little smaller than the base. I added a turquoise dotted ribbon down the left and right sides.  I colored the image using crayola and prisma colored pencils. I backed both the image and the sentiment in marine blue and added one to each ribbon.  I finished by adding 3 blue flatback pearls to the upper left corner and a bow made out of the same ribbon just under the image.

2 Sisters ~ On The Farm

This week at 2 Sisters we are being sponsored by two amazing companies....The Stamping Boutique and Inky Impressions. The theme this week is ON THE FARM.  The stamp that I used is from Alota Rubber Stamps and is called Molly Moo Cows.  The base of my card is Pink (yep..pink even though it looks red in this photo).  I embossed a piece of white using a cuttlebug embossing folder (dots) and a sizzix machine.  I added that to the left side.  Then I punched a strip of white using an eyelet lace border punch from Martha Stewart Crafts.  I added a pink gingham ribbon to it and added it to the middle.  I colored the image using crayola and prisma colored pencils and backed it in pink and then again in white. I added the image off centered a little toward the left. I created a bow out of the same ribbon and added it to the right of the image.  I finished it off by adding 3 white pearls to the upper right corner.
